Attached for Mail / Support

A little help.

Set it up once. Then compose in Apple Mail as usual.

Set up the extension

  1. Install Attached for Mail, open it from Applications and click Start setup.
  2. The wizard opens Mail’s settings with a small guide beside the window. In Mail > Settings > Extensions, select the checkbox beside Attached for Mail. If Mail asks, click Turn On.
  3. Click I’ve enabled it — Continue in the guide. macOS requires you to enable the extension yourself; installation alone does not switch it on.
  4. Follow the compose-checkmark guide. Keep the checkmark beside Subject on when you want attachments prepared, and choose Attached for Mail if Mail offers an extension selector.
  5. Click Got it — check attachments. The app checks two temporary samples in memory and discards them. It creates no Mail draft and sends nothing. After the check passes, click Finish setup.

The checkmark activates Mail’s message-processing pathway. Attached for Mail does not cryptographically sign or encrypt mail and is not intended to replace S/MIME or PGP tools.

Can’t see the extension?

Open Attached for Mail from Applications first. Quit and reopen Mail, then choose Mail > Settings > Extensions. If you were testing the older Attachment Fix app, disable that old copy before enabling Attached for Mail. Use Walk through setup again to repeat the guide.

Attachments still look embedded?

Mail may show image or PDF previews even when a file is a conventional attachment. The recipient’s app controls its own preview, position and paperclip indicator. Check that the extension and compose checkmark are enabled. Recognizable signature images intentionally remain embedded.

Messages over 30 MB are not processed, and existing signed or encrypted content is not rewritten. If processing cannot complete safely, Mail shows an error and preserves your draft. Turn off the compose checkmark to send normally.

Report a bug or suggest a feature

Open Help & feedback in Attached for Mail, then choose Report a bug or Suggest a feature. An editable Apple Mail draft opens to align@45left.com. You choose when to send.

Include what happened, what you expected, and steps we can repeat using sample files. Optional app details contain the app/build version, macOS version, processor type and local-check result. Please leave out private messages, attachments, filenames and raw logs. Email is not anonymous: your sending address and anything you include are visible to us.

Automatic crash summaries

Under Help & feedback > Crash reports, you can enable anonymous technical summaries. Sharing is off by default. After a crash, reopen the app. For a Mail extension crash, reopen Mail and then Attached for Mail. Summaries retry while the app is open; they are retained by us for 30 days. Read exactly what is collected.

Disable or remove

Uncheck Attached for Mail in Mail > Settings > Extensions. Quit Attached for Mail and move the app to Trash if you want to remove it. It installs no mail account, sending server or login item.
